The 8th Annual Martha Deichler Memorial Union County Math Competition will be held Saturday, January 25, at the El Dorado High School Fine & Performing Arts Center.
This competition is presented by the generous sponsorship of the Deichler family. It is a coordinated effort of Smackover High School, El Dorado Public Schools, the El Dorado Education Foundation and MustardSeed Wealth Management. The competition is open to all 6th-12th grade math students in Union County. Students can compete in the math course in which they are currently enrolled including:
6th grade math
7th grade math
8th grade math
Algebra I
Geometry
Algebra II
Pre-Cal/Trig
Statistics
Calculus I
Calculus II
To sign up for the competition, contact your math teacher or Tom Simmons at tsimmons@esd-15.org.
Competitors should plan to arrive at EHS by 9:30 a.m. on January 25th to sign in and receive instructions. The competition will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Awards will be presented at 11:00 a.m. The top three finishers in each category will receive a medal and cash prize with $100 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd.
While the students are testing, Bruce Butterfield of Mustard Seed Wealth Management will present a seminar on financial management for parents.
Snacks will be provided courtesy of Kellogg's and General Mills.
