In August, El Dorado High School proudly welcomed Stephen Shepherd Jr. to its lineup of new assistant principals for the 2024-2025 school year. With an extensive career spanning 30 years in education and an additional eight years as a consultant, trainer, and coach, Shepherd brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the El Dorado School District.

Throughout his career, Shepherd has worked with numerous organizations and major school districts, specializing in school design, organizational development, and conflict mediation. His expertise in these areas has positioned him as a leader in fostering positive school environments and enhancing educational experiences for students and staff alike.

Shepherd holds multiple certifications, including Psychological First Aid, Culturally Responsive Experience, and Trauma-Informed Intensive Care. Additionally, he is a certified trainer of Restorative Practices through the International Institute of Restorative Practices graduate school. His background in these areas underscores his dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive school culture.

Academically, Shepherd earned his Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and K-12 Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato, as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, St. Paul. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Legal Criminology and Deviance/Youth Studies from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.

Shepherd is excited to be a part of the El Dorado School District and is eager to continue collaborating with students, families, educators, and community members. His commitment to fostering growth and success aligns with the district’s mission to provide a high-quality education in a supportive and engaging environment.
