First graders develop of love of reading as they move from pre-reading skills to building language skills in reading and writing. In math, first graders move to critical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on exploration. Students build all these skills with an emphasis on scientific and engineering design processing.

First grade uses the Standards-Based Reporting for report cards and progress reports to help parents understand how their student is progressing.
