The El Dorado School District is excited to announce Wendy Strickland as one of the new Assistant Principals at El Dorado High School.

Originally from Wylie, Texas, Strickland moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, after graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education K-8 certification. Strickland began their career teaching 7th-grade English at Barton Junior High, where she spent eight years teaching both 7th and 8th grades under the guidance of former EHS Principal, Sherry Hill.

While teaching, Strickland pursued a Master's Degree in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction at Southern Arkansas University (SAU), graduating in August 2014. Strickland later completed the Educational Leadership Licensure program at SAU in 2016.

In 2018, Strickland transitioned to the role of Literacy Instructional Facilitator, where she worked for two years before becoming the Assistant Principal at Northwest Elementary in 2020. Strickland's leadership skills, experience, and passion for education have now led her to the new role at EHS.

Outside of work, Strickland enjoys spending quality time with her family. She married Cody Strickland in 2016, and together they have two sons, Reed, a second grader at Northwest Elementary, and Rhett, who is four years old. They love spending their free time together at the lake.
