Today, we celebrate Hugh Goodwin Elementary 2nd grade teacher Brigitte Haney and the positive impact she makes each day! Her fellow colleague Olivia Fitzgerald said, “Mrs. Haney is always willing to help others. As a new teacher to Hugh Goodwin’s family, she welcomed me with open arms and is there any time I need her.” That nurturing attitude extends into the classroom according to current parent Shayna Newton. “She is an awesome teacher who cares about students and goes above and beyond for them. She builds self-confidence in them.” Newton’s daughter, Graysen, said Mrs. Haney is “easy to talk to.” What better way to make an impact than by supporting others?! Thank you, Mrs. Newton, for all you do for our students! If you’d like to nominate a staff member, visit bit.ly/ESDWildcatImpact.

Brooklyn Alexander-Lee, K-4 Art teacher at Northwest Elementary, attended the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & Television and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts. Mrs. Alexander-Lee chose SCAD due to its highly-regarded reputation. “SCAD is renowned for its Fashion, Film & Animation programs, and I was provided with some of the highest-quality equipment and opportunities to learn from real, working professionals while there.” She also enjoyed the small-town living of Savannah, but the close proximity of Atlanta, which was “close enough to get involved in the film scene.” One of the things that makes SCAD so special is the opportunity to study at different campuses. “While I was primarily located in Savannah, Georgia, I also had the opportunity for one quarter to study at the SCAD Lacoste campus in France, a small medieval village an hour north of Marseille, which was converted into dorms by the university. Our classes often involved field trips to the many historic sites in France and the chance to travel to surrounding European countries, which was a dream come true for an art & architecture nerd, like myself.” Mrs. Alexander-Lee also said, “Another fun fact about the school is that some of our professors are real-life celebrities. My acting professor played the dad in the Disney Channel show ‘Phil of the Future’ and our Dean of Entertainment Arts played in ‘Switched at Birth’ and ‘Chicago Med.’” Thank you, Mrs. Alexander-Lee, for sharing about SCAD! Today, we celebrate Northwest Elementary 3rd grade teacher Holly Morgan and the positive impact she makes each day! “Holly is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted, big-hearted, loving people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. This year is her 3rd time to have one of my children. I have got to watch her over the past 5 years and see how she interacts with her students. Holly goes above and beyond to not only teach her students school stuff but to also teach them about life. She teaches them the most important things like how to treat people and how important kindness is. Above all of that, she loves them. She doesn't just say she loves them, she shows them. She makes sure every student that crosses her path knows how special they are and that they are loved. To me, that is more important than anything else. She is such an amazing person and deserves to be recognized for the heart she has,” Jodi Cain, parent of current and former students. Thank you, Ms. Morgan, for all you do for our students! Madison Campbell, teacher at El Dorado High School, attended Arkansas Tech University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education. She currently teaches 9th grade Pre-Ap English. ATU was not Mrs. Campbell’s first choice for college. She originally planned on attending ASU-Jonesboro with her friends; however, she went on a tour of ATU and immediately fell in love with the campus. “The tour was wonderful, the staff/faculty was very accommodating, and I found the Department of English and World Langagues, my new home for four years. Choosing ATU was the best decision that I made for my future.” Although ATU is one of the larger schools in the state, Mrs. Campbell loved the small-town feel that it provided. “You still felt like you were at home. Class sizes were small, professors were helpful, and there were many ways to get involved,” she said. She was an Resident Advsior (RA) and an officer in the NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary), which allowed her to be involved in all things related to dorm life. Mrs. Campbell was also involved in campus ministry (CCSC). Mrs. Campbell said, “I was given opportunities that helped shape me into the person that I am today, and I will always be grateful for that.” Thank you, Mrs. Campbell, for sharing about ATU!
