Mrs. Bailey’s Class welcomed a special guest to class on Thursday, October 14. Neffertiti, a tarantula on loan from the Camden Pet Shop, tagged along with Mrs. Renee’ Bearden, Science specialist of the South Central Services Co-Op. Mrs. Bearden and Neffertiti taught the students about the various kinds of spiders. The students also learned that although all spiders have silk, not all spiders create webs. AND they also learned that there are DIFFERENT kinds of spider webs. SO, next time you see a spider web, DON’T just destroy it. Take some time to observe it!
The students also accepted the challenge given to them to DESIGN and CREATE a MODEL of a SPIDER WEB. They had the choice of designing an orb web, a cob web, a funnel web, or a sheet web. The students had a great time learning and came up with some Super scary spider webs!
