Mrs. Renee' Bearden, a regular monthly guest of Mrs. Bailey's Accelerated Academy, is a Science specialist from the South Central Services Co-op. In September, she came and set up a hurricane investigation for the students. The students learned about Hurricane Katrina as well as other hurricanes. On Thursday, November 11, she came back with a challenge for the students. To build and test levees! The students and teachers had a blast designing, building, and testing levees. We learned that sometimes the amount of water, as well as the speed of how fast it is coming in can change how quickly it seeps through the barrier. We learned some barriers are better than others, and we practiced team work. What a great day for learning!
