Not Just a Student Section
You can hear them at the beginning of the game, after a big play, when the Wildcats score, or just when the team needs an extra boost...the El Dorado High School 12th Man knows how to support their team!
At the beginning of the school year, EHS Student Council encouraged students to get excited about being a Wildcat, to show pride in our school and their school spirit. For some, it’s playing sports; others, it’s extracurricular activities or participating in dress-up days. However, many students have found their Wildcat spirit by participating in the EHS Student Section, the 12th Man, led by seniors Hayes Jackson and Austin Jobe.
Jackson and Jobe grew up with the guys on the football team, and both knew there was no question in whether or not they were going to support the team. Jackson said, “I knew it was my year to take pride in my classmates and school.”
Jobe added, “Since I stopped playing football, but I still know everyone on the team, I still wanted to try and find a way to help them win. Even if it isn’t on the field, I tried to find something I could help with.” A dedicated leader, Jobe has been to all the games but one, when he was out of the state for a baseball tournament. “I hope the 12th Man has helped give our team confidence while playing.”
Senior football player Rakel Williams believes they do. “They make us excited and keep our momentum up the second half. We come back out, and they are lit for us. It gets our blood back rushing.”
And it’s not just the game they are energizing. Coach Kris Borosvskis said, “They’ve changed the atmosphere not only of the game but on campus. Morale is higher, school spirit is higher. The student body is more unified.”
Principal Sherry Hill loves what the 12th Man brings to EHS. “Our 12th Man should be a model for other schools! They are all about the Wildcats and supporting their friends and classmates! I’ve been EHS principal for three years now, and the energy they bring to pep rallies, and most importantly to the games, is outstanding! The best I’ve ever seen! They not only support our team on the field, but they interrupt the flow of the opponent’s game! What more can you ask of a 12th Man?”
The 12th Man sets the themes for the student section at each game. From white-out to Christmas-out, they have come decked out each game, ready to show their Wildcat spirit in any way they can. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors--it doesn’t matter what grade you are, as long as you are cheering for the Wildcats.
For Saturday’s championship game, they have chosen the theme BLACK-OUT.
“We chose black-out over purple-out because we will have multiple schools in the 12th Man tomorrow. Not everyone has purple sitting around. Everyone has a black shirt or black pants,” Jobe said. Students from ten other schools plan to attend tomorrow to support the Wildcats, including Benton, Cabot, Jonesboro, Lake Hamilton, Little Rock Parkview, Pine Bluff, Russellville, Searcy, Sheridan, and Sylvan Hills.
A student from Russellville said, “Russellville High School will be representing the El Dorado Wildcats, because the Greenwood Bulldogs think they’re ‘all that.’ In fact, they will soon realize they aren’t when El Dorado destroys them.”
Cheer Coach Tab Bledsoe loves that the 12th Man has worked so hard this year, “The 12th Man has really brought it. They are prepared, organized, rowdy. They cheer with the cheerleaders. I love it.”
Tomorrow at noon, you’ll find the 12th Man and the cheerleaders sporting black and shouting:
“I- I believe- I believe that- I believe that we- I believe that we will- I believe that we will win! I believe that we will win!”
And they hope you will join them! See you at the Rock!

Washington Middle School is currently on lockdown due to reports of an incident in the vicinity of the school--not on school property. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. While the school is on lockdown, no one may enter or exit the building. We are working with local law enforcement to determine what happened and to assess the overall impact of the incident.
