Jill Stone has been awarded the Hendrix-Murphy Book Award, which goes to outstanding juniors who demonstrate distinguished scholarship or leadership in literary studies, creative writing, foreign languages, or drama. Jill was nominated for this award because of her talent and passion for writing and reading.
Mrs. Lauren Cross, Jill's Journalism teacher, says, "Jill is an impressive talent. She joined my journalism class this year to explore her creative writing interest. It wasn't long before she realized her talents in news writing and defending student voice through our student newspaper. Her level of objectivity and reasoning makes her a valuable asset when it comes to student representation. She's professional in her dealing with administration and other adults, and I'm so sure she's got nothing but success ahead of her."
Jill's writing is featured in our own EHS Hi-Gusher and in the EHS yearbook. She also enjoys blending creative writing with mixed media art. We are so proud of Jill and can't wait to see what she accomplishes in her bright future!
