SENIOR NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2021

Dear Parents,

There are roughly six weeks left of your child’s high school education. Let’s make this the best experience possible!

The following letter contains information regarding college scholarships/applications, senior banquet, senior slideshow, Jostens pick up info, important dates, and AP testing dates. Please read through it carefully and contact the appropriate person if you have questions.

COUNSELORS’ CORNER

It is very important that students complete college applications as soon as possible and reply to scholarship acceptance letters by the deadline. Most universities now encourage students to apply online at the university’s website. We have college information available to students in the Counselor’s Office and the College and Career Coaches are also available to help with applications.

A list of available scholarships is available in the Senior Information Center on the EHS Website. Please check this page often, as scholarships are updated regularly.

Students must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to receive federal or state financial aid for college. The FAFSA application should be submitted online at www.studentaid.gov. College and Career Coaches are available to assist with completing the FAFSA. Please email april.malone@esd-15.org or kanesha.evans@esd-15.org for more information.

SENIOR BANQUET

Due to COVID safety recommendations, EHS will not hold a traditional prom. Instead, a senior banquet with a formal sit-down dinner and senior slideshow will be held on May 1st from 6-8pm in the EHS Commons. Tickets will be sold from April 1st through April 9th. The cost is $5 per ticket. The dress code is semi-formal to formal. Guest forms will need to be completed and turned in to Mrs. Thigpen by April 23rd. Southern Sass will be onsite for portraits; order forms will be available soon.

SENIOR SLIDESHOW

There will be a senior slideshow during the senior banquet. The slideshow will be a walk down memory lane, as we cover the senior class’s time together at EHS and beyond. In order to do so, we need your help submitting photos. Please read the following carefully:

Seniors are asked to send a photo of them from ages 0-4 and a senior photo if they did not take their senior portrait for the yearbook. There will be a baby/senior picture section in the slideshow of each senior who submits their baby photo. All seniors who have a photo on file with Mrs. Cross or who submit a photo to Mrs. Steele will have their senior portrait included in the senior section.

Students who would like to submit pictures for the senior slideshow need to submit photos to EHSSeniorVideo@esd-15.org  no later than April 9th

Seniors are encouraged to submit photos from kindergarten through senior year. While we would love to include a wide variety of photos, showcasing everyone in the senior class, we can only include what we receive. If you want to be included, you must submit photos. Do not rely on your friend or someone else to submit the photos for you.

Photos must be school-appropriate. Photos that are not appropriate include but are not limited to the following: underwear/swimsuits, alcohol/drug-related events/clothing/etc., displays of affection, weapons, hand signs/gestures, etc. Be sure to check the background before you send your photos in. If you wouldn’t show it to your grandmother, your teacher, or your preacher, don’t send it in.

If you have questions concerning the slideshow, please email Mrs. Steele at EHSSeniorVideo@esd-15.org

**Due to time constraints, it is possible that not all photos will be utilized.**

JOSTENS PICK UP

Jostens will be in the EHS Auditorium on April 1st from 11-3:30pm for parents and seniors to pick up the items they ordered for graduation. Please enter through the Auditorium lobby doors. A mask must be worn while in the building, and social distancing will be required. All items must be paid in FULL to receive them. Jostens will take cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and money orders. If possible, please have correct change.
